Description:

The ancient Greeks knew about the fruits of the pistachio. Pistachios are botanically known as Pistacia vera. The pistachio is a tree or sometimes a tall bush. Their origin is mostly stated as central Asia, from where they spread to Turkey, Iran, Italy, Greece, Tunisia and other countries. Pistachios contain provitamin A, group B vitamins and out of all nuts they contain the most iron (content comparable to that of lentils), a large amount of potassium, phosphorous, calcium, and trace elements – e.g. copper (facilitates the absorption of iron). Regular consumption of pistachios (in small amounts) is suitable for strengthening the nervous system.
