The pistachio prices in Iran rose again in the last week. The situation in Hamburg is very similar, intensified by shortage of pistachios passing through the European Union customs. The informative price at NO 22/24 in Hamburg is around 7.000 USD/t.
Based on the latest information there are about 20 thousand tons of pistachios in Iran until the new harvest, which is, as the experience from previous years suggest, not enough. This fact will probably cause further rise in pistachio prices.
The new harvest is estimated to 150 – 160 thousand tons of mainly smaller pistachios in sizes 28/30 or 30/32.
