Iranian pistachios
The current estimation of the remaining quantity of pistachios harvested in 2005 in Iran is around 40 thousand tons. With regard to these numbers it is no wonder that the pistachio price has touched the bottom and started slowly rising. It is specifically marked in case of enclosed pistachios used for production of mechanically opened pistachios and shelled nuts.
Following the latest information concerning a new harvest, i.e. 2006, we can expect up to 200,000 tons.
The informative price of pistachios sizes 28/30 round in Hamburg is currently around 5,000 USD/ 1MT.
Poppy
The price of Czech poppy after a sharp rise stabilized at prices around 1,450 EUR/1MT. It is hard to estimate whether the price will continue in its rise or not.
However, the main factor is still a gradual decline of demand and unwillingness of customers to pay such a high price. In case the trend continues in the future, we might see an interesting drop in prices.
